We set up St Luke’s Lunch club to directly meet the need of families that are struggling in our neighbourhood.
In the school holiday lunch simply disappears for children that rely on free school meals during term time. It’s already a struggle for low income families to provide nutritional food to their children without the extra burden of finding the additional money for another meal each day. Across Bristol 1 in 4 children are living in poverty, in Barton Hill this increases to 50% of the children.
Each school holiday we provide a meal and activities for families that rely on free school meals during term time. We provide a healthy meal, fun and laughter for children that are experiencing holiday hunger.
The project is inspired by a Christian ethos, we welcome everybody of any or no faith. There is no faith content to the sessions.
